A SPECTACULAR WEDDING VENUE!

I have just completed a wedding at O'Reilly's on the Lamington plateau south of Brisbane. The preparations were at the guest house, but the service was at Luke's Bluff, about two miles via 4 wheel drive through the rainforest and rocky paddocks. The drive is absolutely worth it.

Lukes Bluff is an area above a 1500ft sheer cliff. One of the instructions to the guests was"don't step back!"

The only difficulty with photographing the wedding was that it was full sun with very contrasty light. These things are sent to try us!

CHRIS AND MICHELLE IN SAN FRANCISCO

At the end of our recent world tour we arrived in San Francisco where Chris and Michelle (same couple as below) met us with their wedding clothes! They flew over to have some extra shots taken in the streets of San Fran. We had a tame limo driver who ferried us around to the places we needed to go and waited patiently for us to do our thing. That's a darn site better than walking up and down those San Fran hills in a wedding dress.

I have avoided posting the iconic shots of street cars and signs at Fisherman's Wharf, but the lights at dusk were too much to ignore.

This is at the top of Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world, but I am facing away from that part.

The piers and scenery at the waterfront made for beautiful backgrounds for a beautiful couple.

OK, SO I'M IN TROUBLE AGAIN!!

So I photographed Chris and Michelle's wedding last Saturday, finishing at about 9pm. Then at 7am next morning we drove for two days to get to South Australia. Then the phone calls and messages started! "When are we going to see their pics on the blog?"

In between my commitments in SA I have managed to steal a little time to keep the impatient ones off my back. I have only worked a couple of images yet so this is only a small and preliminary sample of "The Wedding of the Year".

Chris is one of those easy-going grooms who gave me as much time as I needed to produce the images, and Michelle was his perfect mate. I have rarely met a couple as well matched as these two.

Joel and Kerry RADFORD

Joel and Kerry were just in ordering their wedding album. Joel is the son of three times Master Photographer, Wayne Radford and I was (understandably, I think) a little apprehensive about it. Wayne sets a standard as high as anyone in the industry and this is one wedding that I had to be at my best. As It was, I need not have worried. I was given more time than usual on the wedding day to make sure that the images were spot-on! That comes from knowing how important photographs are in a family's future, and allowing enough time to capture the images. Thank you Joel and Kerry!

Nuha and I met some years ago when I photographed her for her Yr 12 formal. She always promised that I would photograph her wedding and it has finally come to pass. The engagement portraits were photographed at a railway station in the city, followed a few months later by her wedding. This is a selection of some of them.

PALAZZO VERSACE WEDDING yesterday at the Gold Coast

These are the first few from a wedding we photographed on the Gold Coast Yesterday. Absolutely beautiful wedding, FIVE STUNNING SISTERS in the bridal party! We started at Palazzo Versace at Southport and went from there. The first is the interior of the Versace Ballroom where the florist had lit each table decoration from below. Beautiful effect.

These are two shots of Kelly Munce's beautiful daughter, Brooke. Photographed at Coffs Harbour the day before we started a five day series of seminars, we bought a bridal gown and veil and headed for the beach!

This was a beautiful wedding with quite a few really nice shots. Much of it was photographed on a clifftop where hanggliders do their thing. It was bloody cold, too, but the bridal party put up with it like real troupers.

Mark and Maree's Rockhampton wedding

Our most recent wedding was in Rockhampton with the reception at Rosslyn Bay near Yepoon. I had photographed the bride's brother Andrew at his wedding to the beautiful Kate a few years ago. The bride, Maree has been living in the UK for a few years and has snared herself a pommy! Even so, he is not a bad bloke and he shows excellent taste in photographers.

Some of the locations in Rockhampton are spectacular. The hotels are surrounded by lacework edged verandas and the sandstone used in many of the public buildings give a glow to any portrait made in the vicinity.

Two weekends ago I attended Em's wedding in St Stephens Cathedral. About 30 years ago, I photographed Em's parent's wedding in Armidale. It has always been one of my favourite weddings and I had to at least equal it this time. With a bride like Emily and her new husband Tim, it was not too difficult.

The Anglican cathedral in Brisbane has lovely nooks and crannies that can be used by photographers. This is not exactly a nook or a cranny but I love the lighting effect. The shot above of the bride is from the same wedding.

We had finished with all the outdoor shots by this stage and because there was a severe lack of light I had the bride stay as still as possible for about 2 seconds while I handheld the Fuji S3. I love the softness that resulted.

BEACH WEDDINGS

Beach weddings are a part of many Queensland photographers' weekend. This wedding was in the Hinterland behind Surfers Paradise and late in the afternoon we drove down to Broadbeach to take advantage of the beautiful day we had. My preference is to keep as many of my images as simple as possible as often as possible. This is one of those images.

All weddings in Noosa are great! This one especially. This couple and their attendants were so natural that all I had to do was suggest an area to photograph in and they would just occupy it. This is part of the "coffee shop" scenario.

On this occasion we used the following day, Sunday, to travel to Mt Tamborine to add some variety to an already beautiful Saturday wedding in Brisbane. We waited till almost sunset and then worked like crazy to add another hundred or so new images to their collection.
